"NEW GENERATION" PRELOUGE By Dan Dupuis As the real story goes, in the reality you call home, Professor Charles Xavier runs a computer scan to search world wide, to find, what he calls, the next generation of mutants, the team that would later be known as Generation X. It’s all that simple. One computer scan, and the Team of Generation X, consisting of Jonothan Starsmore, Chamber, Paige Guthrie, Husk, Monet St.Croix, M, Jubilation Lee, Jubilee, Angelo Espinosa, Skin, and Everett Thomas, Synch, is formed. These are the ones who would train to be the next X-Men. Simple enough. But, what if, instead of heading in a easterly direction, Professor X had used the scanners going in a western direction? The date is now November 18, 1990. Four years before the beginning of Generation X. It is a rest day for the X-Men. In Xavier’s eyes, they deserved it. Also in his eyes, he saw that he, himself, could not afford the luxury of a break. He had been up for three days straight. Eating as minimum as needed, and having no rest at all. It had been only of recently that he realized that the X-Men would not be around forever. He didn’t mean their early death, by any means. He meant, in fact, that some members might decided they had enough of the X-Men, or for when natural death comes, he would have young mutants who had trained, and could take their place. He realized that he needed to form a group, as the New Mutants were, before they formed X-Force. He knew they couldn’t be the New Mutants. The New Mutants, the team, was no longer. Professor Xavier began his scan, and, just by a mere different choice of direction, decided to have the scan go west instead of east. This brought up eight mutants that Xavier decided had the most possibilities of having then ability to become member of his new generation of mutants. Xavier read off the list, fascinated by the future possibilities. He knew it was too earlier for their mutant powers to actually show themselves. At this age, for all of them, there was no sign of anything different for them, or to even really find out what their abilities are. The computer screen read as: Allé, Michael- Chicago, Illinois, USA Espinosa, Angelo- Los Angeles, California, USA Fergunson, Clarice- Westerly, Rhode Island, USA Foschia, Vincente-New York City, New York, USA Malvagità , Gregor- Lincoln, Kansas, USA Rasputin, Illyana- Siberian Territory, U.S.S.R Stärke, Victor- Deutschland, Germany Thomas, Everett- St. Louis, Missouri, USA Professor Xavier looked at the list, and said to himself, quietly, So,this is the next generation?. After reading the list, Xavier finally decided he had deserved a rest, and went to sleep. The first time in almost half a week he had.
