Generation X Annual -- "An Eagle from far Away"
Part 2

By Quamp

Note: This is a continuation of "An Eagle from Far Away"

(Page 23, panel 1. The car turns and fires at M and Synch, who narrowly
avoid the shot.)

SFX: FZAPT!!

(Panel 2. M and Synch drop Jubilee, Husk, Chamber, and Skin. Those dropped
advance on the car.)

B-2 (from inside the car): Get the building destroyed and then we'll deal
			   with these brats.

(Panel 3. The car crashes into the building, making it very shaky.)

SFX: KA-WHONK!

(Panel 4. We see a 4 year old child in one of the windows of the building
as it starts to crumble.)

Child: HELP!!

(Panel 5. M saves the child as the building collapses around it. We see
M holding this child in her hands as cracks form in the building.)

SFX: Crumble crumble crumble!

(Page 24, panel 1. Chamber fires a psionic blast at the car, doing it no
damage.)

SFX: WHA-WHOMP!

(Panel 2. Jubilee fires sparks at the rocket car, doing it no damage. The
car prepares to ram the members of Generation X.)

Jubilee: We're not affecting it! what is this car made of?

(Panel 3. M grabs the rear bumper of the car, and pulls it up.)

SFX: SKREEE!!!!

(Panel 4. The car fires its rocket engines.)

SFX: WHOOMMPPHHH!!!!
Jubilee: M!!

(Panel 5. M is knocked back into a wall, where she leaves an impression.)

Cap (N1): There wasn't much heat to the blast.
Cap (N2): She tried to get away from it.
Cap (N3): But it was like trying to avoid the inevitable.
Cap (N4): And she is hurt. . . or is she?

(Page 25, panel 1. Cut back to the White Queen and El Aguila. We see them
riding around in the back of a limo.)

Cap (N1): And elsewhere, at the same time. . .
Cap (N2): All is quiet and peaceful here.
Cap (N3): Emma Frost and Alejandro Montoya are discussing things over.
Cap (N4): There's a potential here, she thinks.
Cap (N5): And so does he.
Alejandro: Tonight is a special night indeed.

(Panel 2. They move closer to each other.)

Cap (Q1): Should I let him kiss me?
Cap (Q2): After all, I really don't know if I love him or not.
Cap (Q3): But there's something about him I like.
Cap (Q4): Something I cannot put my finger on.
Queen: Well, being around you is nice indeed.
(Panel 3. They hold hands.)
Alejandro: Hmm. . . you have such soft hands, like feeling silk.
Queen (blushes slightly): You really know how to flatter a woman.

(Panel 4. They start to kiss.)

Cap (N1): And as they start to have romance,
Cap (N2): Fate rears its destructive head.

(Page 26, panel 1. The White Queen grabs her head in pain. She has just
heard a psionic shriek from M.)

Queen: AUGH!!!
Alejandro: Santa Maria!

(Panel 2. Aguila tries to comfort the White Queen.)

Alejandro: Que pasa?
Queen: My students. . . they are in trouble. . . I have to get to them.

(Panel 3. Alejandro turns to the driver.)

Alejandro: Driver, we have to get back to Tribeca. Mas rapido!

(Panel 4. go back to the rest of Generation X. We see them picking up the
pieces as the Bombardier's drive off. Synch, Chamber, and Jubilee stand
over M. M is lying on the ground now.)

Jubilee: Ohmigawd! Is she like hurt!?

(Panel 5. Synch takes M's pulse.)

Synch: Her heart is beating, and she's breathing. Those are good signs.
Chamber's thoughts: (Gel, don't die on me. I don't want to lose a team
		    member.)

(Page 27, panel 1. Enter the police, who drive in with three cars. The
members of Code:Blue jump out, weapons drawn.)

Marcus: Everyone freeze!!!
Jubilee: Uh- oh.
(Panel 2. The members of Code:Blue approach Generation X.)

Marcus: What are you kids doing here?

Jubilee: Well, like this totally bogus car was like destroying this
building, and we like tried to stop it, o.k?

(Panel 3. Code:Blue surrounds Generation X.)

Marcus: I think you'd better come with us.
Jubilee: Major bummer! Ms. Frost is gonna have a cow over this!

(Panel 4. M wakes up to Mad Dog holding a gun to her.)

Mad Dog: We want to ask you a few questions downtown.
Cap (M): Uh-oh.

(Panel 5. M takes off, and Mad Dog fires a net. We see M in the air with
the net right behind her.)

Marcus: Don't let her get away!

(Panel 6. The net snares M, and delivers a mild electric shock to her.)

SFX: EEERRRZZZAAAPPPTTT!!
M: AIEGH!!
Jubilee: M!!

(Page 28, panel 1. We see the members of Generation X being lead into a
police truck. Enter the limo carrying the White Queen and El Aguila.)

Queen: What's going on here!?

(Panel 2. The White Queen jumps out to be stopped by Rigger and Marcus.)

Queen: What are you doing to my students!?
Marcus: Relax, ma'am. We're doing some routine questioning downtown.
Queen: But they're my students! I can't let them out of my sight!

(Panel 3. El Aguila restrains the White Queen.)

Aguila (1): Relax seonrita.
Aguila (2, to Marcus): We can accompany you downtown, no?
Marcus: Yes, in fact I wish you would, being the guardian of them.

(Page 29, panel 1. Cut to downtown. We see Jubilee sitting opposite
Rigger Ruiz. There is a tape recorder on the table between them.)

Jubilee: But I like didn't do anything wrong!
Rigger: Let's start things over from the beginning.
Rigger's thoughts: (I hate questioning suspects.)

(Panel 2. They continue to talk.)

Jubilee: Well, like, there was this major explosion outside our place so
we like went to investigate it, and then like we ran into this
totally skanky car, and like it was trying to destroy the
building, o.k.? Then we like tried to stop the car by attacking
it with our powers, but it like didn't hurt it, o.k.?
Rigger: So what happened to this car?

(Panel 3. They continue to talk.)

Jubilee: Well, see, like M picked it up by its rear bumper, and it like
fired a rocket from behind onto her, then like sped off. I was
like too concerned for my hurt friend to see where it went.
Rigger: I see.

(Panel 4. We see Captain Conklin in the same setup with Chamber.)

Conklin: What's your name?
Psi Balloon (Pointing to Chamber): Chamber.
Conklin: Can you speak normally?

(Panel 5. They continue to talk.)
Psi Balloon (Pointing to Chamber): I would if I had a mouth. It got burned
off when me mutant power manifested
				   itself.
Conklin's thoughts: (Why me?)

(Page 30, panel 1. We see Mad Dog questioning M. M has zoned out, and her
eyes are pupiless.)

Mad Dog: Alright, state your name for the record.

(Panel 2. Mad Dog talks louder.)

Mad Dog: I SAID STATE YOUR NAME FOR THE RECORD!

(Panel 3. Mad Dog waves a hand in front of M, who does not notice this.)

Mad Dog: Weird.

(Panel 4. He snaps his fingers in front of M's face.)

SFX: SNAP!
Mad Dog: She's blanked out.
Mad Dog's thoughts: (Just my luck to get the real weirdo.)

(Panel 5. Marcus is in the lobby with the White Queen and El Aguila.)

Marcus: It's just a routine questioning. We're trying to find out the
	truth like you are.
Queen: Can I speak to them?

(Panel 6. Enter Synch and Husk.)

Synch: Don't worry, White Queen. We're alright. They've been very nice to
       us.
Husk: They said we were free to go.

(Page 27, panel 1. Enter Jubilee and Skin.)
Jubilee: Well, I think that corporal was a total hunk.
Skin: Amiga, I do not swing that way.

(Panel 3. Enter Mad Dog.)

Mad Dog: Marcus, we got a problem with that young woman.
Marcus (turns): What's up?

(Panel 4. Marcus and Mad Dog talk.)

Mad Dog: She's in some twilight zone thing. I fired my gun next to her,
	 and she didn't flinch.
Jubilee: Oh great. M's spaced out again!
Queen: Well, let's go talk to her.

(Panel 5. We see those mentioned before around M, where she sits.)

Marcus: So how do you get her out of this?
Queen: If you've got a suggestion, I'm all ears.

(Panel 6. M comes out of her trance.)

M: Oh dear. . . I did it again, didn't I?
Queen: This habit of yours is very disconcerting, M. You seem to space out
when you need to the least.
M: Well. . . I cannot explain it.

(Page 31, panel 1. We see the members of Generation X exiting the police
station with El Aguila.)

Cap (N): And about 10 minutes later. . .
Aguila: Some night, hm? Perhaps we should try this again another time, no?
Queen: I'll have to think about it. Right now, we need to go home.

(Panel 2. We see the White Queen and El Aguila standing outside of her
loft.)

Cap (N): And after a ride back home. . .

Aguila: Perhaps things will turn out better next time.
Queen: Well, I really enjoyed the time I spent with you, Alejandro. . . .
what little there was of it.

(Panel 3. They hold each other close.)

Aguila: Perhaps a kiss will brighten your day.

(Panel 4. Aguila and the White Queen kiss.)

Cap (Q1): That did it.
Cap (Q2): I never could say no to a great kisser.
Cap (Q3): And Alejandro is definitely that.

(Panel 4. They part.)

Alejandro: I really want to try again soon.

Queen: We'll try again soon. That's a promise.

(Panel 5. Exit the White Queen.)

Cap (A1): She likes me!
Cap (A2): I cannot wait for the next time we go out.
Cap (N): But that may be for some time. . . .

(Page 31, panel 1. We see it is the next day, and the Bombardiers are in
their shop. They are working over their rocket car.)

B-2: We've got the latest stuff in, and our car will be undefeatable!
B-17: An adamantium shell, lasers, rockets, and molecular destablizers,
this car is a sure thing.
Cap (N): But those who speak of certainty often stand on shaky ground...
(Panel 2. They have set up a block of cement in front of the car.)

B-52: Fire the destablizer, B-1.

(Panel 3. An orange laser fires, hitting the cement block.)

SFX: ZAP!

(Panel 4. The block turns to dust.)

SFX: WHOOF!

(Panel 5. The Bombardiers smile sinisterly.)

B-2: We'll kill them all!

(Page 33, panel 1. Cut back to Generation X. We see them studying with
the White Queen.)

Queen: Another logical fallacy in arguments is called Ad Populi - or the
bandwagon fallacy. This states that if everyone does it, then it
is alright. A long time ago people believed the Earth was flat and
that made the idea alright. But once the idea was disproved, people
who held onto the belief did so because it was popular.

(Panel 2. She continues to talk to them.)

Queen: Fallacy number three is commonly called guilt by association. It
is commonly illustrated by example: All registered Democrats voted
for the President in the last election. John Smith voted for the
President. Therefore, John Smith is a registered Democrat.

(Panel 3. She gestures to the illustration below:

  People who voted for
  Democrats
                              The president:
                              John Smith

Queen: As you can see, John Smith is not necessarily a Democrat.

(Panel 4. The White Queen continues to talk.)

Queen: A fourth logical fallacy is called Ad Homina, or Ad Femina. This
is where the arguments of a person are discredited by attacking
the person him or herself, and ignoring the argument. For example:
A priest argues that a couple should wait to have children, but
his arguments are discredited because he is not married. His not
being married is irrelevant to the arguments he makes.

(Panel 5. She continues to lecture the class.)

Queen: A fifth one is called the slippery slope fallacy. This argument
says that doing something will lead to a second, undesirable thing
without supporting it. Often the results of the first thing do not
lead to the second one. For example: A mutant hatred argues that
granting rights to mutants would lead to mass destruction and
widespread chaos everywhere. We know for a fact this will not
       happen.

(Panel 6. The students relax.)

Queen: Well, that is it for now. Your assignment for the next hour is to
write arguments for mutant rights using the logical fallacies I
       have stated.

(Page 34, panel 1. The White Queen Exits. and Jubilee grabs her head.)

Jubilee: Woah. I think my head's going to explode.
Synch: Well, we've got a paper to write.
(Panel 2. Cut over to Alejandro and his board. We see them talking things
over.)

Cap (N): And meanwhile. . . Alejandro: Therefore, we should put things to
a vote. All in favor of getting the Frost Industries 6700
	 hyperspeed mainframe, say aye.
All but Alejandro: Aye.

(Panel 3. They conclude the meeting.)

Alejandro: The matter passes. Frost Industries will be awarded the
	   contract.

Alejandro's thoughts: (And I might get to see more of Emma.)

(Panel 4. Go back to Generation X and the White Queen. We see them in a
limo. The White Queen is talking on a cellular phone.)

Queen: Montoya Leather has awarded the contract to us? That's wonderful
       news!

(Panel 5. She continues to talk on the cell phone.)

Queen: I'll be there as soon as I can to sign everything.

(Panel 6. The white Queen hangs up her cell phone.)

Psi Balloon (Pointing to M): You know what you did was wrong.

(Page 35, panel 1. The White Queen faces M.)

Psi Balloon (pointing to the White Queen): What are you talking about?
Psi Balloon (Pointing to M): You used your feminine charms for personal
gain.
(Panel 2. The White Queen talks to M psionically.)

Psi Balloon (Pointing to the White Queen): Alright, I admit at first I
was doing that. . . but when I kissed him, everything changed.
Psi Balloon (Pointing to M): So you have fallen in love with him?

(Panel 3. They continue to talk.)

Psi Balloon (pointing to the White Queen): Yes, I love him. I didn't plan
on falling in love, but his kiss is what won me over. Now drop this
subject.
Psi Balloon (Pointing to M): Why are you so sensitive over this?
Psi Balloon (Pointing to the White Queen): It's not your business, Monet.
I don't pry into your personal life.

(Panel 4. Husk faces the White Queen.)

Husk: What are y'all talking about?
Queen: This is not your concern, Paige.

(Page 36, panel 1. They continue to drive on.)

Psi Balloon (Pointing to M): Well, best of luck on your relationship.

(Panel 2. Cut over to the White Queen and El Aguila. We see them riding
in a limo together, holding hands.)

Cap (N1): Fast forward to that night.
Cap (N2): Alejandro Montoya and Emma Frost try to date again.
Cap (N3): But fate seems to have cursed them. . .

(Panel 3. They continue to hold hands as they drive.)

Alejandro: Digame, you seem distracted.
Queen: Alright, I have a confession to make. When I first agreed to go
out with you, I did so hoping that you would buy my mainframe.
But now I find myself in love with you. I feel a little guilty
for wanting to use your affections, Alejandro.

(Panel 4. They continue to talk.)

Alejandro: Well, I thought this might be the case, but I never considered
that you would fall in love. Emma, it is alright, just as long
as you realize your mistake and learn from it.
Queen: Thank you, Alejandro.

(Panel 5. They kiss again. Panel 6. They part as they hear an explosion
from offpanel.)

SFX: WHOOM!
Queen: That came from where my students are! We've got to get over there!

(Page 37, panel 1. We see Emma in her White Queen outfit, and Alejandro
in his El Aguila outfit. They leave the limo, heading for the explosion.)

Alejandro: There is trouble afoot, mi amor.

(Panel 2. They come to the rest of Generation X [except for Banshee and
Penance] fighting the Bombardiers in their rocket car.)

Aguila: Santa Maria! The Bombardiers!

(Panel 3. The White queen turns to Alejandro.)

Queen: You know these clowns?
Alejandro: Si. They car is made of adamantium. There is a way to defeat
	   them, however.

(Panel 4. Aguila fires from his sword, hitting a tire on the car.)

SFX (1): ZAP!

SFX (2): KERBLAM!!

(Panel 5. The car skids out of control, hitting a fire hydrant, and
knocking it over.)

SFX: SKREE!!!

(Panel 6. We see water rising up like a gusher from the broken fire
hydrant. The Bombardiers come out of their car, firing lasers as they do.)

Jubilee: Now we've got you dweebs!!

(Page 38, panel 1. M grabs the laser rifle of B-17, bending it.)

M: Guns are dangerous toys and should not be played with.
B-17: What the --!?

(Panel 2. The White Queen psi blasts B-52, who grabs his head.)

Cap (N1): It's not nice to mess with one of the most powerful telepaths
	  in the world.
Cap (N2): And B-52 is finding this out first hand.

B-52: AAAIIEERRRGGGHHH!!

(Panel 3. Jubilee fires her energy plasmoids at B-2, hitting his rifle,
which explodes.)

SFX: KA-WOOM!
B-2: ARGH!!

(Panel 4. Chamber and Synch surround B-1. B-1 drops his rifle.)

Psi balloon (pointing to Chamber): Smart move of you, mate.

(Panel 5. Several police cars enter, and Code:Blue members jump out,
pointing weapons.)

Marcus: Everyone freeze!!!

(Page 39, panel 1. Everyone turns to face Code:Blue.)

Marcus (approaching the White Queen): So you decided to get on the act
				      as well?
Queen: We have your building destroyers, officer.
Aguila: I know of several places they have destroyed.

(Panel 2. We see the Bombardiers being loaded into a police wagon. The
members of Generation X and Code:Blue talk in the foreground.)

Cap (N): And some time later. . .

Marcus: We've checked this out. These guys have rap sheets the size of
the Empire State Building. There's a $500,000 reward for capturing
	them.
Queen: Donate the money to charity. Generation X does not take rewards.
Marcus: Alright, Miss.

(Panel 3. We see B-2 handcuffed, and in front of the wagon.)

B-1: This is but a temporary victory! Nobody can stop the Bombardiers!
Mad Dog: Save it for the judge.

(Panel 4. Exunt the Bombardiers and most of Code:Blue. Marcus stays
behind.)

Marcus: I've got to stay for the tow truck. We're going to haul this
	thing, and study it.
Queen: I wish you the best, officer.
Marcus: Stick around New York. We're going to need your testimony to
	put these crooks away.

(Panel 4. We see El Aguila and the White Queen riding in a hansom cab
around Central Park.)

Cap (N): Three days later.
Queen: I am sorry, Alejandro, but I have to leave tomorrow.
Aguila: Por que?

(Page 40, panel 1. They continue to talk.)

Queen (1): My business is based in Boston. I've neglected it these last
few days. But I want you to know,
Queen (2): I've never met a man that made me feel love like you have.
Aguila: You have been the most especial woman in my life as well, Emma.
Well, we may not have a long future, but we can make the best of
	what time we have.

(Panel 2. They put an arm around each other.)

Queen: I never thought I would find love in my life. But some things are
       worth having.
Aguila: I agree, mi amor.

(Panel 3. They kiss. Panel 4. Go to see Skin holding a book. He smiles
the smile of a warm feeling inside. Husk is next to him.)

Husk: What you got there, Angelo?
Skin: He made me very happy, amigo.

(Panel 5. We see a book open to the front page, with the following written
in handwriting: "Muchas gracias para ser mi fantico, El Aguila" Panel 6.
We see Skin holding the book, smiling.)
