SUGAR'S RUIN written by Anonymous

Generation X, X-men, and other related characters are property of Marvel Comics I am not making any money off this. blah blah blah. Sugar Kane stood by the window of a borrowed downtown apartment. The messenger would be coming soon. She finished the bottle she was drinking. She glared at the bottle and made a three point shot into the trashcan. Yippee three imaginary points for her. She was stressed out so she decided to sit down and either practice one of the songs written for her or write a song of her own. Considering the present circumstances she decided to write one of her own. I close my eyes and I can see your face No matter the day, the time or the place. You can make me smile wherever I am. Even when the world doesn’t give a damn. I wish to be with you instead of here. But that wasn’t in the cards I fear. You make me strong when I am weak You’re my wild when I’m on a losing streak. When I fall you give me wings to fly, And I will love you until the day I die. You are the true healing to my pain, And I’d do anything to hold you again. But the monster can take you away, So away from you, I know I must stay. The truth sears through me like a knife You are better off without me in your life. But no matter what I say or do, With all my heart I still love you. Doing that always helped her take care of tension especially lately. Sim continued to be afraid everything would all go under with her mutant lover and that they’d all lose everything. Not that she gave a crap if they did or didn’t. She was nothing more than their little doll playing dress up to be what she wasn’t and it was getting tiring. Maybe deep inside she did want it to all be over. To put Sugar in the closet and go on with another life. Maybe one day it could be the identity she once left behind. With that thought she picked up the empty bottles and threw them all away. She was tired of the image she was supposed to show on stage. And the even faker image she was supposed to show off stage. She forced herself to throw up the booze she had consumed. She rinsed out her mouth, and ate a sandwich. The only person she worked with that she could trust was Terry Banks. The assistant and choreographer who looked after her and made sure she looked good on stage. All the others were just in it for the money and would probably stab her in the back the first chance they got. Terry was really her friend, and probably would remain so even after they fell on their faces. If it wasn’t for Terry she probably would have told Sim to kiss it months ago. Jon was also a good friend; she had the suspicion that he had once wanted to be in the business she was in. That is probably what originally attracted him to her. There wasn’t anything extreme between them. She had handcuffed him and they had some kinky foreplay not long after she had first met him. Then she gave him a back massage and left. What relationship and friendship they had she was glad to have. It wasn’t long before she heard a knock on the door. Then came the code she knew it was it. She did the return code and pushed the envelope she prepared the night before under the door. In return was a manila envelope Sugar snatched it up eagerly and turned her attention to the envelope’s precious contents. Jono and Terry sat at the restaurant looking for any sign of Sugar. She was late for their lunch appointment. Terry had succeeded in convincing Jono to wrap himself up for the lunch appointment. "I know you don’t like it," Terry had told him, "but we are going to have one heck of a time convincing the waiters that you won’t set fire to every flammable article in the place. Sugar won’t go without you, and I agree with her. You have every right to be with her anywhere you choose. However many people are not as comfortable with you walking around unwrapped as Sugar and I are. They don’t realize you have the control you do. You understand what I am saying I hope?" Jonothan understood and sighed {I do really hate this you know, but I‘ll do it for you and Sugar this once.} Terry nodded and smiled; "it’s all I ask Jon." So now Jonathan Starsmore found himself bandaged once again like a burn victim and dressed up like a doll. {May I see that?} He asked Terry who handed over the cell phone. Jono knew he couldn’t use it the same as Terry did, but he could punch in a code to Sugar’s beeper that would make her pick up no matter what it was she was doing. Jono was right, moments after the code Sugar called and Terry reminded her she was late. She swore, she had completely forgotten about the appointment apologized and said she’d be over in the Gremlin as soon as possible. The Gremlin? Where on earth would she go in the Gremlin? He had nicknamed the old green car that because it was the ugliest and strangest little car Jono had ever seen in his life. He never knew why Sugar kept that old car, but it worked better than he ever thought it would. Anyway Sugar had the Gremlin and was on her way. Good to her word she had arrived just as she said she would. "About time you got here Sugar." Said Sim. "You had us waiting for you for almost a half-hour." It had only been fifteen minutes. Jono decided he really didn’t like Sugar’s manager. "I’m sorry," Sugar was saying. "Something came up alright?" Her manager glared and said something about ordering lunch. Which they did after the manager argued with Sugar for ten minutes about her order. Terry settled the argument and Sugar was able to get what she had wanted. After lunch Jon and Sugar were talking. {Is something wrong?} He asked her. "I’m fine." {Are you sure? If you ever want to talk, I’m all ears.} For a moment Sugar was tempted to lay all her problems at Jon’s feet, but that would endanger someone that only wanted to help her and be her friend. Sugar shook her head. "Really Jon, I’m fine, you don’t have to worry." Jon shrugged and hugged her close to him. Sugar felt bad about lying to him, but the truth was worse. Sugar had the day free so they went to the movies. She tried to bury her problems by just watching the movie and being in Jon’s arms. Usually that worked, but today she felt a dark shadow was following her. Every time she looked over her shoulder she saw nothing, but she couldn’t shake the feeling. The feeling she was being followed and hunted. After dropping Jon off, Sugar went back to her apartment. When she got there she saw a wrapped package with a ribbon in front of her door. She gently un-wrapped the package as she opened the box a smell overwhelmed her. Inside the box was a dead gory tomcat. Sugar took the box outside and buried the animal. She groaned softly, if this was someone’s idea of a joke, she wasn’t laughing. When she got into her apartment there were bouquets of flowers laying around except they were all black roses and black lilies. Not exactly good sign unless someone was using her apartment for a funeral hall and nobody told her. She turned on the radio "I’ll be watching you." by the police began to play. She was going to shut the radio off, when the phone rang. "Hello, 'little kitten' how’s it going?" Asked an all too familiar voice on the other end. Using some Spanish she learned in 10th grade, she convinced her caller he had the wrong number, and hung up. She curled up in a ball with a sigh of relief. ******************************************************************************************* He was at a bar with Icicle and the Elf when he saw Jonothan and his 'tuneless songbird', as Bobby had dubbed her, leaving a restaurant, and get into a weird looking green car. As he was shaking his head in disbelief. He saw another car pull out of an alley, it was trailing theirs. Just for the heck of it he decided to follow, to see what that car was up to. After a few minutes the car pulled into an alley and Wolverine watched the man get out and go into an apartment building. Wolverine followed him to Sugar Kane’s apartment. He popped the lock and went in. He opened a box and spread black lilies and black roses around the place. Then left a box by the door and left the apartment. Wolverine didn’t know exactly what this guy was up to, but whatever it was Chamber’s girl could be in deep trouble. He decided to wait to see how Sugar reacted to all this. When Sugar was sure she had her wits about her, she put all the flowers in water. Then she turned off the radio, and put on a tape. Then took out a punching bag and began walloping the heck out of the thing. It wasn’t over, as much as she wanted it to be. She was surprised when she heard a tapping at her window. She grabbed a bat and went to the source of the noise. On her balcony was a complete stranger. But there was something that was unusual about this man. Like, he was on a balcony that was a story and a half in the air and there were no trees. So how he got up there was a mystery. But then he did something odd, he took out a small box and on it was a symbol that Jon had told her about. It was the symbol of people he called the X-men. From what he had told her it was safe to let this man in. "You’re with the X-men, huh?" She asked opening the door. "Yep," He answered walking inside. "So what brings you here?" she asked him. "You had an unusual visitor." He answered. "Unless people break into your apartment leaving funeral arrangements and dead cats on a regular basis." She shrugged, "And this interests you why?" Sugar asked. "He also followed you and Jonothan around today." Logan continued. "Well, far enough behind that you couldn’t tell. I was following him." Then Wolverine looked in her eyes. They held secrets and she was wasn’t the dimwit they tried to pass her off as either. "I think you know what this leads up to. You’re just not going to say it, because that means telling me something else. Something that you don’t want tell me or anyone else." "This is not why you came to my balcony. So tell me, Why are you here?" "You tell me. Who was that guy?" "Don’t know." "Not even a guess?" "No." "We both know something is up, and it’s something you don’t want to talk about." He handed her a card with the number he and the others were at on it. "When you feel like talking, call me." He started to leave when she asked. "Why?" He looked at her with a question in his eyes. "Do you care?" She finished. "Think about that, and when we talk again, you can tell me." "What makes you think will talk again?" she asked him. "Trust me." He answered. She opened the front door. "I suggest the stairs; they are easier and safer." She told him. He left. **************************************************************************** It had been two months since they left school and Snow Valley Massachusetts far behind them. They were Angelo and Jubilee now Ricky and Angie Morales (Adopted brother and sister). They found a place to crash and 'Ricky' worked at a car dealership and 'Angie' worked at a restaraunt. Right now, Jubilee was doing one of the last things Angelo ever thought he’d catch her doing. She was reading the newspaper and it wasn’t the movie listings or the funnies either. "Last night’s little agenda actually made it into the paper." She told her partner in crime. "I bet our little buddies aren‘t too happy." Last night they had literally made a clean out of some bank accounts that belonged to the aforementioned evils. "Really?" "Yep, all parties had to file for bankruptcy this morning." Jubilee answered. She made a slight frown as he took a can out of the refrigerator. "Not for breakfast you don’t." "Relax, its only Root beer." He answered. "Not for breakfast you don’t." She repeated. He sighed and put it back. "You’re really cramping my style, chica." "I’m sorry if your majesty of junk food is displeased." Jubilee retorted. "I made eggs; they are over there." She pointed to the plate of eggs at his place. "Don’t worry I didn’t use Emma’s recipe." (See Generation X Onslaught Impact part 2 for details.) "Am I in the right apartment?" He asked. "Very funny, 'big brother'." She answered. "Now eat." He sat down and ate the eggs. Which he liked to his great surprise. She then handed him a glass of liquid. "Drink this it will get rid of any aftereffects of Mike’s Triple Irish coffee Mocha." He gave her a questioning look. "You’re forgetting my past company now drink up." Angelo was wise enough to do as she told him too. "'So what are we going to do tonight, Brain?'" Asked Angelo. "'Same thing we do every night, Pinky'" Answered Jubilee "Make life heck for the FOH Nazis on 324 Wind Hill Drive." "Okay, and in what inventive way will we do that?" "I am still thinking about that." She answered and turned the page. "BLAST!!" Angelo nearly did his imitation of a water fountain. "What? What?" He asked. "There was a robbery at the museum last night." She answered. "Okay, but did you need to raise my heart rate for that?" "You really don't get it do you? They're still out there. The major contributors went bankrupt sending them elsewhere for cash flow. They'll either make exchanges or sell that stuff on the black market. Either way they've got their cash for that new shipment they've been waiting for." "So what do you suggest? Make a raid on the warehouse tonight?" Jubilee nodded her face was grim. Angelo handed her the rest of his coffee from Mike. "You look like you need this more than I do." "I’m a minor, Angelo." "You mean in all your times with the "X-men" you never.." She shook her head. "Alrighty then." Said Angelo. She took the cup and poured the last quarter of the cup down the sink. "You don't need it either." Angelo sighed, and stared up at the ceiling. "Why me?" he asked it. "Hey, you chose to come with me." Jubilee replied. Angelo groaned, "You were never this way at the school." [Meaning what Angelo?] Jubilee asked in Spanish. "See what I mean?" He asked the ceiling. Jubilee took that as her signal to go to work. When Jubilee came home, Angelo was waiting for her. "Well. how did it go at work today?" He asked. Jubilee handed him her apron and sat down on the couch. She then proceeded to take off her shoes and rub her feet. "That bad huh?" Angelo asked. "You tell me." She replied pointing to the apron pockets. Angelo emptied the pockets. The tablet she wrote her orders on was considerably smaller for one thing. He also found two red yoyos; three sticks of gum a pack of Cigarettes and $85.45. "Not so awful." He answered, "but what’s with the yoyos the gum and the smokes?" "Don't ask." Angelo put the contents of the apron back in the pockets. As he did he happened to look at his wristwatch. Jubilee had put something in it that helped him control his skin. Which had been a curse for a long time because of the migraines that had come from using his power. Now with the help of Jubilee's little gift, he was able to use and control his powers with no migraines whatsoever which was in it's self a miracle. He decided to never ask how she got such a device together. He figured he was better off without the details. It was another piece of evidence of how much Jubilee had changed since they left the school. Sometimes he wondered how much of it had to do with Everett's death, but he knew better than to ask about it. "What time is this rally you mentioned?" Angelo asked. "Eight-thirty." Jubilee answered. "And where are Angie and Ricky going to be seen tonight?" Jubilee showed him a flyer one of her co-workers gave her for a Karaoke dinner that night. "We'll see what we can manage." Said Angelo. That night at 6:00pm Ricky and Angie Morales were at the Karaoke dinner. They were having a pretty good time. Then out of the blue 'Ricky' found himself talked into singing on the stage. He ended up singing "Living La Vida Loca." 'Angie' never knew her 'brother' could sing so well. "Wow, that guy’s pretty good." said the girl dancing next to her. "Yeah, I know." 'Angie' replied. About forty minutes later 'Angie' found herself singing "I Want You Back". She tried not to think of Everett. In a matter of speaking, she did want him back. Alive and messing with her mind even though she didn’t have a chance. Unless Monet got ran over by a tank or something. 'Ricky' was watching as 'Angie' sang and saw the tears starting to sting her eyes, but so far she wasn’t crying. He could tell right off. At the sane tune he cursed Adrienne Frost, because he knew what his friend was really thinking about while she was singing on that stage. While the artist that performed the song was talking about a girlfriend they broke up with. She was singing about a friend of theirs that they lost when that psychotic witch set a bomb in their school. Everett, Jubilee’s best friend, was killed in the explosion trying to give everyone else time to get out alive. There were days he cursed Everett for his good heartedness. Watching Jubilee sing Angelo knew that he would do anything to bring Jubilee her best friend back. After this warehouse raid was over, they should go to where Everett was buried and visit him. On a less serious note, Jubilee was doing real well with the song, and no one else there knew her well enough to know that she was fighting tears. When she was done singing she went down to Angelo. . "Are you alright?" He asked her gently with concern clearly in his eyes and his voice. "I’ll be fine, Angelo." She said, "We have work to do," and then she disappeared out the back door. Angelo sighed and looked up and the ceiling as if asking for strength from a greater power. "I’m being punished aren’t I?" He asked, and followed his teammate out the door. It was dark and rainy, when they got to the warehouse. Jubilee made short work of the alarm system by using her powers to short it out. Although, she also ended up frying the entire breaker box in the process. Angelo then brought out two industrial size flashlights, which Jubilee joked, could double as clubs to fight of the enemy if need be. They found what they were looking for, but as they were finishing cleaning the whole place out some of the security guards returned back from the rally to check out the warehouse. Jubilee told Angelo to make a break for it and held them off using her pyrotechnics to make the guns explode in the guards’ hands. After that she lost any of the guards that were trying to tail her and met up with Angelo at the dock. All the time not noticing the bizarre amulet that had fallen into the pocket of her coat. She went to the bridge where Angelo was sure to pass under and then she signaled him. He acknowledged and she leapt off the bridge, he shot up his fingers to catch her. Then he reeled her into the boat. He was relieved she was alright and said "Chica, is it a goal in your life for me to die of cardiac arrest?" "Of course not, why would there be?" "You seem to have this thing about giving me a near heart attacks during the day." He replied. "I know you would catch me, Angelo. I'd trust you with my life."She answered. "Are you sure that's a good idea?" He asked her. "Don't you trust you with my life?" She asked back. "Yeah, sorta, it's just that there is always the chance that I'll screw up and have to go into hiding from Freddy Kruger's short feral cousin." Angelo said. "Not funny." Jubilee said. "I am serious; he would be just like Freddy Krueger if he thought I was involved with you getting harmed." As Jubilee thought about that they sailed on. ************************************************************************************** Sugar Kane was performing at a practice concert with a live audience when she decided to sing a song she had been working on solo. Now seems the winds are beginning to change, And the path the stars show has rearranged. These are the signs that help you to know. That it’s time to pack your bags and go Put on your mask, it is time for a change, Put on your mask, your story will rearrange. Put on your mask, it will hide your tears, Brought on by all your pain and fears The weather is starting to grow colder Don’t forget to look over your shoulder Your time to play in the sun is gone, Time for your journey to continue on. Put on your mask, you’re still all alone, Here on your own, you face the unknown Put on your mask, no one will ever know, Put on your mask, and the pain won’t show. But as you place this mask back on its shelf, Isn’t funny how you go behind your true self? With this and all the other masks that you wear, Are you ever going to find your place anywhere? Can you ever face the truth and destroy the past? Will you ever find the way to be yourself at last? When she was done it was obvious that she had surprised everyone in the room with the spontaneous song. Good thing, Sim wasn't here he would probably get upset with her for what she just did. She looked out into the audience and saw the man that visited her balcony last night. What was he doing here anyway? When she looked again, he was nowhere to be seen. "Sugar," the coordinator of the practice began, "do you have any music for that song? It was good all by yourself, but it may be better with accompaniment," She handed him the music. The practice was over so she headed for the gym. When Sugar got there she found a box waiting for her. That was odd, what could it be? She opened it and nearly dropped it in disgust. Inside were the heads of Sim and his two main bodyguards who had looked after Sugar on occasion. Inside Sim's mouth was a note; she pried it out and read it. "There is a time to live and a time to die, A time to tell the truth and a time to lie. The lies are all over and done. And this is a game that can't be won. Give up it's all over, you and the spawn are mine now." Sugar put down the box, and picked up the phone. She dialed Terry's number, Terry fortunately was home. "Terry pack some clothes, get Jon and have him do the same, meet me a Joe's Diner and Tavern." She then hung up. Then she dialed the number the man had given her. Luckily he was the one to pick up. "There's trouble meet me at Joe's Dinner and Tavern, I'll explain there. She hung up again. Then she called a number she rarely ever called. "Sara it's me, you know what do. If I walk away from this, I'll call you again. If I don't call within 72 hours you know what to do." Then she hung up again. This afternoon would be very interesting indeed. She just entered a game of high stakes with a desperate monster in which anything went. This wasn't going to be a picnic. ******************************************************************************************* Jubilee and Angelo had dropped off the boat in a safe place and were driving when Jubilee saw a F.O.H van in front of them. For a reason she couldn't explain she got a bad feeling about what they were up to. "Follow them, Angelo." "Any particular reason, chica?" "Just do it, I got a feeling it would be bad news if we didn't." "Very well, here we go." Jubilee melted the tires with her pyrotechnics and they got out of the car and attacked the four guards and driver of the van. As Angelo tied them up, Jubilee opened the back and saw a coffin that from the marks on it had been dug up from where it was lying in the ground. "Who do you think are in this?" Angelo asked. "Dead mutant, probably." Jubilee answered him. "Probably buried in the same cemetery, as humans and they wouldn't allow that." She reached down in her coat pocket and felt the amulet that lay inside. As she felt it she went over to the coffin. "Could you give me a hand with this?" She asked Angelo. He looked at her oddly, but did as she asked. She was right, lying within the coffin was their friend Everett Thomas A.K.A.: Synch. Without a pause almost if ordered by something else Jubilee took off the jacket and baseball cap she was wearing and put them on him. She removed the referee like whistle from the pocket and put it in his mouth. Then put the amulet on him, she cut her palm and Everett’s and put them on the amulet. Just then a shower of light, and the body of their friend and teammate floated up in the air, a beating was heard like the beating of a human heart a light shone on Everett’s chest signifying that it was his heart beating. Then light went all through his body renewing the use of bodily organs and functions. The light then faded and Everett was standing up with his eyes open, and he was breathing. "Madre De Dios." Angelo breathed in shock and amazement. "Everett?" Jubilee asked "What in the name of all that is logical and holy just happen?" Everett asked. "You had a near death experience." Angelo told him. Everett looked around him; "I get the feeling we aren’t in Kansas anymore. So it couldn’t be a near death experience." Jubilee just hugged Everett hard. Angelo decided to stop trying to explain what was happening and hugged Everett as well. "Ah, guys, oxygen becoming an issue here." They let go of him quickly. "We probably should get you and our selves out of here." Said Angelo. "We can talk about this at the apartment." They got into the car and drove to the Morales homestead. Back at the apartment the three friends sat in the living room and caught up on life and everything. "So you live here?" Everett asked. "Yeah," Angelo answered. "Not bad is it?" Everett looked the entire apartment over. "Not a bad set up." Everett answered looking around. "Would you like anything to eat?" Jubilee asked. Everett mentioned a take out pizza with some toppings that he preferred. "Done." Jubilee said and made the call. ******************************************************************************************* True to her word to both parties, Sugar was waiting at Joe’s Diner and Tavern. While Jon and Terry waited in the parking lot, Sugar waited for the strange man inside. The strange man showed up right on time. "What is this about?" He asked her. "There are two people in that car outside. I need you to get them to where they will be safe. I have some unpleasant business to attend to." She got up and walked out. Logan sat there in a bit of shock then he found some paper that Sugar had dropped. What am I? I’m a jumble of mistakes, Despite all the retakes you may make. I am nothing, really nothing at all, I am a shadow taking a long fall I am just a screw up, a tangled mess of DNA, Nothing to give and nothing left to take away. At times all I can feel is dark and cold, As the winds pass and time grows old Is it the jagged pill or the stinging knife, That snuffs out the dying light of my life? Some nights I hear the dark winds howl, And not far off the night demons growl. This doesn’t scare me in the least, I was already one horror’s feast. Ever since that night things weren’t the same, Some nights the only warmth is a candle’s flame. I can have no relief from the memories. I have surrendered all hope of being free There are still nights that I feel the touch, That had scorched me so very much. I am going down a path few would understand, When I reached for help no one took my hand. Whenever the nights grow long and colder. I find myself looking back over my shoulder. Memories of his touch fill me with dread, I would rather have him before me dead. Incased in a coffin of re-enforced lead. So when the morning finally arrives, I no longer have to lower my eyes. I know I can become so much more, So I wonder what is kept in store. What does the future hold for me? Just beyond that sapphire blue sea? He smelled the ink on the paper, it was five to six years in fact. He didn’t really like the looks of all this. He walked outside and saw Chamber and Terry Banks waiting for him in the car. "Looks like you two are coming with me," He told them "It’s Miss Cane’s orders." Chamber seemed to not like the idea, but Banks went along with Logan easily. "It’s for the best, Jon." Terry said to Chamber. "I just have this bad feeling." Chamber muttered. "Ditto." Logan answered. "Let’s go.." Everett had fought the issue, but Jubilee wouldn’t budge, Everett was going to see a doctor to make sure that he was alright. "This isn’t necessary." He had told her, but in the end he got a check up by the doctor and given a clean bill of health. "Happy?" He asked Jubilee. She made no reply, "Relax man," Angelo suggested to Everett. "She was just concerned about you. It’s not every day someone returns from the dead on you. It takes it’s toll on both parties you know." Everett found it almost strange that Angelo had taken Jubilee’s side, and by the look on Jubilee’s face she was as surprised as Everett. However, neither said anything to Angelo. As they drove home Everett ran over the last twenty four hours in his head. Something was definitely up with Angelo and when they got back he was going to find out what. After they had arrived back at the apartment Everett asked Angelo if they could talk. To which Angelo agreed and he turned down the music he was listening too. "Is everything alright?" Everett asked. "Couldn’t be better was the reply." Everett had his doubts and said so. "Somehow the way you’ve been acting seems odd." He told Angelo. As he said this the prelude of another song came on. "Et tu stereo disc player?" Angelo asked his once faithful appliance and shut it off. Everett knew he was right then and went right for the jugular. "What are you not talking about, Angelo?" He asked and turned the radio back on. The song that followed clued Everett into what he wanted to know. "I can’t stand to see it no more you’ve been living with the goddess, but you treat her like a slave.." And as "I’m going love her for both of us." continued to play. Everett got a good idea what was going on. "You are in love with Jubilee/Angie, aren’t you? And somehow I stand in the way of that." "I don’t know what you are talking about." Said Angelo. "Yes you do," Everett retorted. " Jubilee had a crush on me for a while and I ignored it. You want her for your own, but I still stand in the way. In one way or another." Angelo shook his head as if trying to say Everett had lost his mind. "Deny it all you want, Angelo." Everett said, "But you know it’s true." He then left the room leaving Angelo to mull it all over. ******************************************************************************************** Sugar drove to Sim’s office hoping she could find the evidence to what she already knew. As she went in she found that she was right. There was Sim’s body on the floor, minus a head. The bodies of the two bodyguards were there as well. She looked at some papers on the desk and found something odd., but before she could get a better look something grabbed her from behind. "Hello my 'little Kitten'," said an all too familiar voice. "Are you ready to play old times?" She tried to struggle, but her efforts only received laughs from her captor. "You were always the playful one." He told her and then he chloroformed her. She slumped into his arms and he laughed, all was going according to plan. Now if only he could get his hands on that demon spawn all would be right with his world. It was time to set phase two into motion. ********************************************************************************************* As Terry drove the three of them to Sim’s office, breaking about every courteous road rule on the way. Wolverine contacted Iceman and NightCrawler. "We got something interesting going on here, meet us at.." He looked at Terry. "What’s the address at Sid’s building?" Terry told him and he relayed it to Iceman and hung up. "So any idea what this is all about?" Terry asked Wolverine. "It has something to do with what happened in her past." Wolverine explained. "I have reason to suspect that she was a victim of molestation when she was young. Probably her foster father, she ran away and he has been tracking her and now is going to get her back." "How do you know all this?" Terry asked. "It’s mostly speculation, but one thing is sure. That girl is in a heap of trouble and it has followed her all the way here. It will not stop until it has her back." At that point Terry put the pedal to the medal and they arrive there within fifteen minutes. They ran into the office and found the three bodies and a rag laying on the rug. "Chloroform." Said Wolverine, "But I got her scent once back up gets here we’ll be on our way." As they got outside Kurt and Bobby arrived. "We gotta get moving, Sugar just got kidnapped and she’s in a load of trouble." Said Terry. The three of them got into Bobby and Kurt’s rented van and left. ******************************************************************************************** Jubilee had just arrived at work, it seemed like it was going to be a normal day. Just then a guy broke in with a gun. "Alright everyone get down! I have a score to settle here. Stay outta my way and no one gets hurt!" He grabbed Jubilee "You’re my reassurance no one gets in my way." He told her. She slugged him, and kicked him at the same time. He went down his gun exploded getting both of them. "Someone get an ambulance!" Someone shouted . ******************************************************************************************** With Wolverine’s help they found the warehouse Sugar’s kidnapper went with no problem. "Kurt, you go in and get Sugar to safety. Bobby you and Chamber break the door down, once Kurt gets her out here. You," He said to Terry. "Stay in the car." They all nodded and got to their assignments. All went without a hitch, except.. After Wolverine stopped Chamber from burning the creep to a crisp a young girl no older than five or six years old walked into the door way. "Who is that?" Asked Bobby. He tried to get the girl but she pushed him a way with a wave of her hand. "Uh, guys... something strange is happening here." The girl went towards, Alan Smaltz, the true identity of Sugar’s kidnapper. "You hurt mommy, you are not very nice." She told the man, he screamed as her eyes glowed and his eyes went blank. "What did she do?" Bobby asked Logan. "He hurt mommy, now he knows what it is like to be hurt." The girl answered. "She is making him experience everything he put his victims through." Logan explained to the others. "The little tyke seems to have both telepathic and telekinetic abilities, and at levels unusual for one so young." To give them more stuff to ponder the little girl went to Chamber and hugged him. Chamber didn’t even have the time to turn down his flame when she hugged him. "She’s fine Chamber carry her out of here." Said Wolverine. They went outside to see Sugar and Night Crawler. At the sight of the little girl she openned her arms and said "Come here, sweetie." The little girl jumped down from Chamber and ran to hug Sugar. Night Crawler looked confused. "Where did she come from?" "Young mutant, telepath/telekinetic, we don’t know." Answered Bobby. "I always hoped this day would come." Said a voice behind them. They turned and saw the elderly midwife that ran the herbal shop that was two blocks from apartment that Kurt, Bobby, and Logan had been sharing. "I trust you find mother and child in good health, father?" She asked Kurt. "I haven’t had time to do a through examination, but from what I can tell they are fine." {Mother and daughter!?} asked Chamber. "Kara is my daughter, Jon." answered Sugar. "The jerk in there raped her!?" asked Bobby. Just then there was a flash. "That was a camera." Said Bobby. "No kidding Sherlock." Said Logan. "Let’s split." They got into the van and took off. Kurt turned on the radio. "Just in on 'Rumor Hotline' It appears a mutant lover isn’t the only odd thing connected to teen pop star Sugar Kane. It would seem she also has a mutant daughter that she has been keeping out of the public eye. The love child of the exact mutant she’s been seeing? Or is her current mutant beau just another link on a long line of mutant suitor and various men all which could be the father? Or is are darling Sugar Kane a mutant? Is Sugar pregnant with her current lover? Is she merely a mutant baby making machine? You’ll hear it all on 'Rumor Hotline' first." "Just turn that off." Said Sugar, "Let’s spare Kara all this trash." "I’m sorry." Said Wolverine. Sugar shrugged "It was going to happen sometime." She told him. "Where to now?" Asked Bobby, who was driving. "Anywhere, but here." Said Sugar. "We can work out the details later." There was a beeping. "Logan, I think that is you." Said Kurt. Logan brought out the pager. "We got to go to California," Said Logan "Now." {Is it Jubilee and Angelo?} Asked Chamber. Logan nodded, "She’s in the hospital let’s go." Kurt drove to the air hanger. ********************************************************************************************* When Jubilee woke up she was lying in a hospital bed with all types of monitors connected to her. "What happened.?" She asked out loud. "You’re alive for one." Said the young man next to her. "Angelo." She barely recognized him. "Really getting a hold of that gizmo I gave you huh?" He didn’t answer he just kissed her. "Don’t scare me like that again." He told her . "Are you trying to tell me something?" Jubilee asked. Angelo kissed her again longer. This time she kissed him back. Everett looked in when they had stopped talking and smiled. "About time." He whispered . Just then he saw Wolverine, with Iceman NightCrawler Chamber and some girl and a kid come down the hall. Everett quickly shut the door. "Hi guys," He said to them. "Where is she?" "Jubilee is fine and she is a bit indisposed." Wolverine pushed by him and opened the door. "Wolvie?" asked Jubilee. He went in and hugged her. "you’re okay." "This would probably be a good time to mention that I had nothing to do with this. Except get her the interview for the job that this happened at." Said Angelo. Wolverine put a hand on Angelo’s shoulder. A doctor came in, "Well she is good to go if you want to take her home." He told Angelo. in the hall Kara looked at Chamber. "Paige," she said, on the wall was an image of Paige. {you know where she is?} Kara nodded. "Guess that’s the next stop on our trip." said Bobby. Chamber nodded solemnly. It was time for him to have a long talk with Paige. A talk that had been a long time in coming The END?
