Monaco: Monet has not spoken in 3 months after what has happened at home with her father, the twins and her brother. While driving in the limo, Monet and Colonel Gayle Cord Becker (her guardian) get attacked by a Phalanx, a techno organic entity determined to assimilate all life! Gayle tries to defend Monet and fails, Monet is then easily captured. Sean Cassidy is back at the X-men mansion once more and notices that things are a little strange there then what he was used to. He finally comes to the conclusion that the Phalanx are disquising themselves as X-Men members and that himself, Jubilee, Sabertooth and the White Queen are the only humans left in the mansion. Sean holds the Phalanx back while Sabertooth frees Jubilee and the White Queen. Looking through the terminals that the Phalanx were using, Sean discovers what the last program was that was running in the computer. The screen shows the names and locations of the next generation of mutants that Professor X was thinking of keeping an eye on as the next recruits of X-Men. Sean sets the self destruct switch and they escape while the phalanx are blown up in the explosion. Now it's a race to find the next generation of mutants before the Phalanx does!

PHALANX COVNENANT: GENERATION NEXT PART 2: (X-men #36)
Story Title: "Phalanx Covenant: 'Generation NeXt - Part 2': Drop the Leash"
Story: Fabian Nicieza, Pencils: Andy Kubert, Inks: Matt Ryan

The Phalanx are unsuccessfully trying to assimilate Monet and are tracking the rest of the mutants they found on Xavier's computer in the meantime. In St.Louis Everett Thomas is surrounded by cops as he is trying to explain that all of the windows that blew out were an after affect, that he was fighting "some creatures made of liquid metal". Phalanx then appear and attack him again. Luckily this time he has Banshee and Sabertooth jump in to help him escape. In Cumberland County, Kentucky, the Phanlanx have now succesfully captured Paige Guthrie. The Phalanx turn their attack onto Jubilee and White Queen with Sean, Sabertooth and Everett in chase. The Phalanx manage to capture Sean and since the Phalanx can adapt to a mutant's powers after they have used them, Emma telepathically helps Everett to synch to Jubilee's plasma bursts to allow him to blow up the Phalanx that are after them. Lang (a lead Phalanx) interupts to gloat to them that he has taken Sara Grey (long lost sister of Jean Grey) and Paige Guthrie. When shown Paige, Emma telepathically searched for her psychic imprint and upon finding it, she is able to locate where Paige is. One problem though, Banshee's wrist detonator that was connected to Sabertooth's muzzle has been destroyed. That means the vicious Sabertooth is loose!

PHALANX COVENANT: GENERATION NEXT PART 3: (Uncanny X-men #317)
Story Title: "Phalanx Covenant: 'Generation NeXt - Part 3': Enter Freely and of Your own Will"
Story: Scott Lobdell, Pencils: Joe Madureira, Inks: Dan Green
Characters in issue: White Queen, Banshee, Jubilee, Synch, Monet, Husk, Blink, Skin, Phalanx

Paige is just now returning to conciousness and waking up being draped in Angelo's extra skin to keep her warm is just the begining of the weirdness. Paige tries to explain the situation to her four cellmates, Angelo (Skin), Monet (M), Clarice Fergeson (Blink) and Gregor. Paige talks to and calms down Blink and finds out that the Phalanx have successfully infected her with the transmode virus. (This either assimilates you or turns you into the Phalanx) In San Fransisco, Sean, Emma, Jubilee and Everett have arrived at Frost Enterprises to continue their search since Paige's signature went dead at the California border. Back at the cell, Blink and Skin are trying to give Paige some hope when "Harvest", another lead Phalanx, interupts. After Blink's first use of her power and waking up in a pool of blood she swore she wouldn't use her power again, now it's different. After using her power, with a blink of the eye accompanied by a loud "Blink" sound effect, she sends Harvest reeling with one of her teleportation shears. In San Fransisco we see Ev and Jubi have a heart to heart while Sean and Em are sneaking into a safe house to use the computer to find the Phanlanx. Still trapped in their cell, the captured mutants try to find a way to escape when M decides to speak up for the first time. Knowing the Phalanx were somehow monitering their moves, she used the material from their organic suits to make a device to help them escape. Using this device, half the cell and Gregor (a Phalanx in disquise) are blown apart. While checking the computer systems, Emma and Sean are discovered by the guards, even though she held a telepathic shield around them. The problem was that Emma only shielded their bodies, and not the puddles of water they tracked through the building. With Gregor, the undercover Phalanx destroyed, the teen mutants now try to escape and help Paige who is strongly feeling the effects of the T.O virus.

PHALANX COVENENT: GENERATION NEXT PART 4: (X-men #37)

Story: Fabian Nicieza, Pencils: Andy Kubert, Inks: Matt Ryan, (?) Sellers
Characters in issue: White Queen, Banshee, Jubilee, Synch, Monet, Husk, Blink, Skin, Sabertooth, Phalanx

On a Navy destroyer in the San Diego Bay, Blink is caught by a Phalanx as they try to escape. She is afraid of her powers but uses them to escape while M slams the Phalanx apart. It's then that Harvest shows up. Ev and Sean are scaling the side of the boat with Emma and Jubilee already inside on the lower decks. The teens are cornered but someone attacks Harvest from behind, it's Sabertooth! Sean soon joins in and blows Harvest apart. After the teens have explained the situation and Paige's infection of the T.O. Virus, Sabertooth approaches Paige and slices her. Paige uses her powers to shed out of her skin, and in actually, shed the T.O. virus as well. Harvest quickly reassembles himself and resumes his attack. Sean, Emma and Sabertooth try to hold back Harvest so the kids can escape. Harvest is still growing and Blink knows that they cannot defeat him. She knows that she has the power to defeat him, even if that means to sacrifice her life to save her friends. She says a tearful good-bye to her friends and slices half the hull off so everyone can escape into the water. She uses all of her powers that she can to "Blink" Harvest to pieces. With so much power she is using with her spatial shears, she is caught in her own shears and Blink, Harvest and the ship are blinked out of existance. This event has cost the life of their friend and now the mutant teens have the rest of their lives to find out that their lives will never be the same...

UNCANNY X-MEN #318:
Story Title: "A Prelude to Generation X: Moving Day"

Characters in issue: X-Men, White Queen, Banshee, Jubilee, Synch, Monet, Husk, Skin

Angelo is hitching his way to the airport when the car that stops turns out to be the Beast's. Scott, Jean and the Professor are talking about their experiences (Cyclops and Phoenix Limited Series) and about Sean having to destroy the ready room with all of the information Professor X had gathered over the years. At the Westchester Galleria, Jubilee, Monet, Paige and Everett are taking in Monet's gesture to go on a shopping spree. Banshee, Storm and Bishop watch on and talk about Banshee's new role as headmaster of Xavier Institute. Since the death of Clarice and near death of the next generation of mutants, the Massachusetts Acadamy will be re-opening with Sean and Emma as their teachers. Back at the Acadamy, Emma is watching the helping hands to put up the sign to the institute when she senses Iceman's thoughts and goes to investigate. Emma had taken over his body when she found out about the death of the Hellions (her first group of students) and he wants to confront her about how he can use his powers the way she did. Back to Beast and Skin, Beast hands over the car to Skin to do what he wants with it, either to go to GenX or leave and abandon all hope. Jubilee is about to leave her home at the mansion for Generation X when Angel talks to her. They clash but resolve their issues and Jubilee says good-bye to Xavier, Sean and Jubilee take off for the Acadamy. Angelo pulls up shortly afterwords and asks if he can still be accepted at the Acadamy. Xavier welcomes him and agrees, they'd be happy to have him. Skin quickly takes off to see if he can catch up to Sean and Jubilee to follow them to the new Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters. That's all for this issue, now on to Generation X #1!
