Generation X Issues

Marvel Team-up #1 Cover

MARVEL TEAM-UP #1:
Released on July 2nd,1997: With this story taking place before GenX #32 we start off right in the middle of Spidey capturing yet another bad guy and still getting blamed for the problem. After arriving back at the Daily Bugle where he works as a photographer, Peter Parker(Spiderman of course!) finds his boss tearing up the papers because of an ad placed saying "Spider-man, South Central Los Angeles Tomorrow, millions will die." This heads Spidey to LA which brings us to GenX! As you know, GenX have been dumped in LA thanks to Glorian. (see GenX #28) and it seems that Skin and Chamber want to talk a walk but Husk just won't let them. With them going at each others throats, a panhandler tells Skin to stick around since things are going change.
Next day turns out to be right, a security truck tips over spilling millions of dollars into the poor section of LA making a huge frenzy of stampeding people gathering up the loot. The three members of GenX try to control the mob when a building explodes. In comes the wall-crawler to save the day! (with GenX help of course!) A child was saved but is terrified by Jono's appearance, Jono then tries to link their feelings together so she can feel that he means no harm.
The only problem now is the fact that an army called D.E.A.D. (Direct Euthanasia Action Division) is launching some massive missles at them! With their usual style they avoid them and it turns out that Skin knows the attacker..it's Hippie!(who the heck is he..I have no clue) Skin captures him and just when you think it's all over...it ain't! The missle and bomb attacks were a diversion from all the money, D.E.A.D poisoned the money to kill the people of LA...but how do you convince poor people to give up money? With the good results from the girl he rescued, Chamber links his abilities to Peter's spider sense and transmites a wide spread vibe to make everyone feel that the money is tainted and to get rid of it. Of course you know that this trick worked and Husk does her share by chipping off a few pieces of diamonds from her latest husking and giving it to a poor mother and child...got a band-aid? Aww, how sweet.....until Daily Bugle gets another request saying "Crete,Greece, millions will die.." Here we go again!

Gen13/GenX Crossover Cover #1 Gen13/GenX Crossover Cover #2 Gen13/GenX Crossover Cover #3, Mail-away offer

GEN13/GENERATION X:
Released on July 24th,1997 with two different covers(Three if you count a mail-away offer)and published by IMAGE comics: A flashback story starting at Nottingham airfield, United Kindom. Sean Cassidy, interpol agent, is on watch at a protest at a warhead facility to keep an eye out for the international terrorist, Carlos Ramirez. Carlos sees this and uses a young SPB (Gen13-Super Powered Being)named Jamie Moore to use his teleportational powers to get them to the facility.Things don't turn out to well as John Lynch and the Black Razors bust in to capture the SPB and Banshee is rendered unconsious.
Present, Trance has seeked out the help of Carlos to help him recapture Jamie, only to torch Carlos and his house once he finds out. In La Jolla, California it's a typical day at the Gen13 home when Lynch gets a call to say that Carlos is dead and that Jamie was taken by Trance. It's up to Lynch, the Gen13 kids and Qeelocke (Roxy's pet who has teleportational abilities) to take Jamie back into custody. One problem though, Trance has Jamie but Emplate wants him also so he can "sup" on his genes.
In the middle of one of Generation X's workouts,Cerebro detects trans-dimensional activity and Sean is certain he knows who it is.He doesn't even wait for the White Queen and the GenXers are off on this mission to Quantino, Virginia. Gen13 arrives first and start the battle until GenX arrives to crash the party. Of course you must know that everyone thinks the other is the enemy and with that going on, Emplate butts in to take...Qeelocke? Opps! Wrong one! Making this mistake, everyone sees him and Trance offers to "share" Jamie with Emplate if he could tame Qeelocke to open portals for him. Emplate agrees and they open a portal. Here's another twist...Grunge grabs Paige and jumps in after them.
With no one to help them recover their friends they turn to Jamie to help them. Jamie thinks about it and agrees and they arrive in a middle of a fight between Emplate and Trance trying to take over each other. The thing is that Emplate can't sup an SPB's genes and Trance can't put Emplate into a trance. This helps to distract their thoughts on the two teams and on starts the battle royal! Trance puts Banshee under his power and uses him to blast everyone he sees. I'll just say that a big battle ensues and eventually Emplate decides to take off before he's killed leaving Trance distracted so Skin can wrap him up and stop his trance over Banshee. He then tries to capture everyone under his trance but Anna(Gen13's android housekeeper)cannot be controlled and Trance lets go of them, tells them it is a draw and escapes.Everyone snaps out of their trances and thank each other for their help. With everything now okey dokey, GenX gives Jamie the the chance to stay with them but he declines saying that he needs to be alone for a while. Jamie thinks himself lucky to have friends like these and the groups seperate their own ways.

GEN13/GENERATION X 3D SPECIAL:
Released in Sept 1997 with two different covers. Well, reread the review for the original crossover cause the only difference is the funky 3D classes that comes with it!

GENERATION X/GEN13:
Released on Dec.4,97 and published by MARVEL comics ---NOTE: Takes place 1 year after Gen13/GenX. The gang have arrived in Mexico and are trying to find a ride to "La Casa Del Sol", a mexican resort they were invited to by Mr.Pretorious, a man who has chosen 10 schools to stay for free for publicity for his resort. While on their unsupervised trip and besides Jubilee's bad language skills, ("could I please have a polar bear?") everyone is running scared at the sound of the resort. Eventually an old woman sells them her car for $100 American and they're off! During a storm they arrive at the castle and through "a trick of the lightning" think they see a man climbing the walls! Upon entering they find that only one school had arrived earlier.........
(4 hours earlier) Gen13 arrive and head to their rooms only to have the lights turn off and Burnout is knocked out by some "ape-man". Pretorious insists he is a scientist whose ape test subject had escaped and sends the crew to their rooms till morning....It's Morning!! Both the groups enjoy breakfast and head to the beach. Shortly Kat,Chamber,Husk and Rainmaker go into town while Roxie and Ev tour around the castle and the rest stay at the beach. While Ev and Rox are looking around, they get whacked from behind by some goth knights and are taken away. At the beach the others are surprised by a huge fish creature! It escapes and they decide to alert the others. Meanwhile at the lab we find the Mr. with his two sidekicks Nook and Cranny (groan!!) explaining to him that the fish creature has escaped. He explains how they still have their controller collars on and that he has bred these creatures for their organs which when transplanted into humans, adds to their health. He thinks that super powered beings organs would be even better and that is the reason he has invited Gen13.(not realizing that GenX have powers also) Half of the team is watching through a grate and send Burnout and Skin to find the others before he can experiment on Rox and Ev. Shortly, the gang(minus Burnout who is in town searching for the help) crash in but are thwarted when he releases gas and drugged darts to stop them. He binds them and injects Grunge with truth serum to find out where Burnout is. Upon this, Roxie crashes the group with her levitated cage and they break free.
Burnout has called Lynch and after telling him what is happening, he is attacked by one of the creatures thanks to the controlling collars. Everyone arrives and the fight pursues! With the collars destroyed and Pretorious captured, they head to La Jolla(gen13' home) for some r'n'r. On the beach they talk about how the Mexicans are still trying to catch the hybrids and only Rainmaker seems to see.... a man? Nope, it was only a trick of the sun......

Generation X Coloring Book Cover

GENERATION X: FRANKLIN TAKES OFF(coloring book)
Since it's a coloring book aimed at 4 years olds, it's not going to be a detailed description! :) You are introduced to M, skin, Jubilee and Franklin. (I'm M, I can fly....I'm Jubilee, I can create fireworks...etc) It seems that they have taken Franklin to "Hero Land"...seems like a Disney world with Super heros like Thor and Spider-man instead of Mickey Mouse! Franklin enjoys the games and M conveniently reminds him to stay close to them as not to get lost. He sees a boy with a spider-man balloon and upon reaching for one, he gets whisked away by the many helium balloons...remember that this is for 4 and up years olds!
While he's soaring through the sky, afraid of heights... the GenXers decide to find him by using their mutant powers (yeah, they're in their full GenX suits at a crowed amusment park and using their powers..and people there are thrilled...oh boy!) Anyhoo, Jubilee asks Thor, M flys up to check the roller coster and Skin goes to the Ferris Wheel. Eventually birds burst the helium balloons and Franklin falls into the Whale tank to be then thrown onto the "Spidey Super Slide" and land at the GenXers feet. They give him a huge group hug and upon being asked if he wanted a balloon, he replies "No thanks, I've had enough balloons for a while." Well, that's that one for ya! It was cheesy but you can tell who the characters are and hey! It's a must for a die hard GenX fan! (like me! I have one!) :)

GENERATION X: UNDERGROUND SPECIAL:
Yes, the much awaited GenXU is here as of March 4th,1998! Originally supposed to be an annual, this one-shot by Jim Mahfood is a hit!(see the strip he has in GX#27, "Cookin with Jubilee") It's 3 seperate stories, mostly joke strips, which are titled: "The Big Game", "Banshee's Angel's", and "Half a Face". This comic even has neat extra's too..keep reading! You have to actually see the comic to see all the neat little jokes he's thrown around there....well onto the review!

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #437:
It's a typical day for Peter Parker as after he studies for an exam he relaxes with some web-slinging! As he's sailing around the park he notices that three gang members has ganged up on...Synch? Spider-Man, not knowing that Everett Thomas is a member of Generation X, takes down the gang and takes off. This leaves Synch wondering what would happen if he knew he was a GenXer. It seems though that Spider-Man isn't the only person who's come across Synch tonight. Lurking in the shadows is none other than...hehehe...PLANTMAN who's waiting to extract revenge on GenX and he's going to start with Synch while he's in town.

He's frustrated and waiting to extract revenge for...losing to them in GenX #25? (big error there folks, GenX fought Black Tom Cassidy, not this Plantman guy in #25) Well he's ticked off that they also made fun of his costume too (if you saw it you would to!) so he sends a plant filled with mutagenic pollen after Synch . What does the pollen do? It mutates Synch into a muscle bound giant! With Synch now on a blind rampage, it's Spider-Man to the rescue! The fight ensues and Spider-Man can't help but wonder why this giant is dressed like a GenX member. It's at that moment that Synch is wrapped up in vines and pulled underneath the ground sending Spider-Man to quickly follow him sensing that this giant needs help. As Spider-Man is flipping through the tunnel, he's suddenly wrapped up by vines and the same flowers spray the pollen into his face resulting in him mutating into an actual Spider-Man. Spider-Man with most of his mind intact, continues down the tunnel and demands the antidote. Plantman of course refuses and sics some plant guards on Spider-Man who desperately tries to fight them off.

Synch watches with regret as Spider-Man tries to fight off the guards but thankfully he's regaining his thoughts. With Spider-Man being exposed to the same pollen, it has somehow given Synch the ability to synch to spider's powers! Synch, or Spider-Synch it now seems, breaks free of the vines and they effectively corner Plantman and demand the antidote. Won't give the antidote? You don't want to annoy Spider like that do you? Spider-Man throws Plantman into his tunnel of mutator plants and they make quick work of him! With the little bit of sanity he has left, Plantman tells Spider-Man where the antidote is. An hour later a healed Spider-Man and Synch administer the antidote to Plantman and decide to part their seperate ways on good terms. Before they depart Synch gives his thanks to Spider-Man and Spider-Man tells Synch to give regards to Skin, Chamber and Husk. (who he met in Marvel Team-Up #1, see above) With that they both leave the Plant man and head for home.
