Welcome to the Second Annual "Kindred Spirits Hollowe'en Contest"! This contest is for all GenX fans to celebrate the comic on the one day of the year that mutants and humans can freely celebrate utter wackiness together, Hollowe'en! This contest will be held from Aug. 27, 2001 until October 25, 2001 and will have three different challenges to choose from. You can enter in one, two or all challenges! So what are these mysterious challenges? The stats and rules are as followed:

Challenge One,     Challenge Two,   Challenge Three

This challenge is to celebrate Hollowe'en by dressing up as your favorite GenX hero or villain! In this contest, you can create a costume of any major character that has been shown in a Generation X comic. You can choose through characters from Jubilee to Omega Red, Blink to Nightmare, why not you and a friend try Artie and Leech? Any major character, hero or villain may be entered, but no Johny No-Names that sit in the background may apply. This contest will have these simple rules:

  1. There is no Age limit. Everyone is allowed to enter, children, teens, adults...anyone from anywhere in the world!
  2. Contest runs from Aug. 27 to October 25, 2001. No entries will be accepted after October 25, 2001.
  3. There is no limit to the amount of costumes you want to submit, but keep in mind that a person cannot win twice in the same catagory. (EX: cannot win first place with one costume and second place with a different costume)
  4. Winners will be announced on October 30, 2001 by e-mail. All entries and winners will be displayed at "Kindred Spirits" on October 31, 2001.
  5. There will be 3 judges for this contest, myself, {Dixey} and Silverfang. Judges may design and display a costume, but their costume will not be eligible to win.
  6. All entries will be admitted in digital form (.gif, jpg, etc) by e-mail to tigrrwildcat@hotmail.com or by photo sent through the mail. (e-mail me for mailing info). Sender must include their name, email address, the photo and name of the character they are portraying. Please note that pictures mailed to me will NOT be returned.
  7. Costumes cannot be completely store-bought. (EX: No wearing something like those store-bought Superman or Batman suits completely with cheezy plastic face mask! There's no challenge in that.)
  8. The more creative the costume, the better! (EX: If you were Jubilee, why not add some colored balls or some colored cardboard cut-outs for fireworks?)
  9. Above all, have fun! Take a look at the Blink costume Julia Bush created for the Wizard '98 contest! She must have had a ball creating her costume, Enjoy and Happy Hollowe'en!
Now that the rules are out of the way, what will you win for your hard work? The prizes will be given to the first, second and third place winners. The prizes are as followed:

First Place: "Generation X T-shirt" (Size: Large)
Second Place: "Generation X 1/2" (San Diego Comic Con Edition from 1994)
Third Place: "Generation X Ashcan"

The Second Challenge

This challenge is to celebrate Hollowe'en by writing a story, better known on the net as "Fan Fiction", about your favorite GenX hero, heroes, villain or villains at Hollowe'en! Have a trick or treating adventure, maybe the guys get ambushed at a Hollowe'en party! There is no set number of characters you have to use. This contest will have these simple rules:

  1. There is no Age limit. Everyone is allowed to enter, children, teens, adults...anyone from anywhere in the world!
  2. Contest runs from Aug. 27 to October 25, 2001. No entries will be accepted after October 25, 2001.
  3. There is no limit to the amount of stories you want to submit, but keep in mind that a person cannot win twice in the same catagory. (EX: cannot win first place with one story and second place with another story)
  4. Stories must have GenX heroes, GenX villains or both parties as the major characters of the story. "Mary Sues" (self made characters) may be included in the story, but cannot be the focus of the story. The story must revolve around Hollowe'en in some form.
  5. There is no set number of characters that you can use. It can be a single character story or have tons of characters in it!
  6. Winners will be announced on October 30, 2001 by e-mail. All entries and winner's name (or nickname) will be displayed for all to read at "Kindred Spirits" on October 31, 2001.
  7. There will be 3 judges for this contest, myself, {Dixey} and Silverfang. Judges may enter their own fan fics, but their stories will not be eligible to win.
  8. All entries will be admitted in digital form (.txt, .doc, .html etc) by e-mail to tigrrwildcat@hotmail.com Sender must include their name, email address, the story, title of the story and a brief two sentence summary of the story.

The Third Challenge

This challenge is to celebrate Hollowe'en by "drawing" your favorite GenX hero, heroes, villain or villains at Hollowe'en! Have them in costume trick or treating, maybe dressed up at a party! There is no set number of characters you have to use. This contest will have these simple rules:

  1. There is no Age limit. Everyone is allowed to enter, children, teens, adults...anyone from anywhere in the world!
  2. Contest runs from Aug 27 to October 25, 2001. No entries will be accepted after October 25, 2001.
  3. The "drawings" can be submitted in multiple forms of art. They can created as regular pencil drawings, colored drawings, computer created photomanipulations, etc. Basically anything creative in nature.
  4. There is no limit to the amount of "drawings" you want to submit, but keep in mind that a person cannot win twice in the same catagory. (EX: cannot win first place with one picture and second place with another picture)
  5. "Drawings" must have GenX heroes, GenX villains or both parties as the major characters of the picture. "Mary Sues" (self made characters) may be included in the picture, but cannot be the focus of the picture. The "drawing" must revolve around Hollowe'en in some form.
  6. Winners will be announced on October 30, 2001 by e-mail. All entries and winner's name (or nickname) will be displayed for all to see at "Kindred Spirits" on October 31, 2001.

Sender must include their name, email address, the "drawing" and title of the "drawing". Please note that pictures mailed to me will NOT be returned. In this case, you may want to photocopy your entry and mail the photocopy.
